Creating a New Tab and New Group

Customize Ribbon - Add New Tab and Rename

From the Customized Ribbon dialog box click on the New Tab button. 
Both New Tab (Custom) and New Group (Custom) lines are now displayed.

Select and highlight the New Tab (Custom) line and click on the Rename… button. At the New Tab - Rename dialog box in the Display name: window enter the New Name for the Tab. Click OK or press the Enter key to complete the update.

Next select and highlight the New Group (Custom) line and click on the Rename… button. At the New Group - Rename dialog box in the Symbol: section pick list select a symbol by which the Group can be identified.

This symbol is used by Microsoft® Project 2010 when the Ribbon is reduced to such a size, only the Grouped symbols can be displayed.

In the Display name: windows enter the New Name for the Group

Click OK or press the Enter key to complete the update.

Validate and Close New Tab and Group Customization

After closing the Renaming process to the New Tab and Group(s). Close the Customize dialog box by clicking the OK button in the bottom right hand corner of the dialog box or pressing the Enter key.

Move New Commands into Groups

With the Ribbon File tab, Options command and the Customize Ribbon dialog box open proceed to the next step.Now that the New Tab and associated New Groups have been added, commands are needed to populate the New Groups. From the Choose command from: section locate and highlight (by clicking on the command), the command that is to be added to a New Group. Next locate the in New (Custom) Group located in the Customize the Ribbon: section the position when the command is to be located and click on this position. The From and To locations are now highlighted.

Click on the Add>> button. Repeat this process for all commands that are to be added. Click OK or press the Enter key on the keyboard when finished.

Customize the Ribbon Relocating a Custom Tab

To move the customized Tab within the Ribbon highlight the Tab in the Customize the Ribbon: section.

Using the up and down arrows to the right of this section, click and position the Custom Tab where it is to be located. This process can also be applied to relocating Custom Groups within a Custom Tab also.

Click OK or press the Enter key when completed.

Custom Tab has now been moved, together with the Custom Groups.

Hiding a Tab

Customize the Ribbon - Hide Tab

In cases where the Tab is to be removed or hidden from the Ribbon uncheck the check box to the left of the Tab title in the Customize the Ribbon section.

Click OK or press the Enter key when finished.

 

 

 

 

  

The Ribbon now has been given the Standard look and feel with the Custom Tab now hidden.
